Death by Chocolate Giant Cookie
Recipe from Sara Wells on Our Best Bites

If death by chocolate doesn't sound too bad, this recipe is perfect for you. I call it death by chocolate because it is super chocolaty. The best way to eat this cookie is to have some milk with it.
Recipe
Makes: one giant cookie (see note)
Prep time:15 minutes
Cook time: 14 minutes
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 yolk from a large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch of table salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips
flaky sea salt (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt your butter in a heat-safe mixing bowl.
- Mix in sugars, egg yolk, and vanilla.
- Sprinkle flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt on top and then mix together.
- Stir most of the chocolate chips in and save about a tablespoon.
- Form dough into one large ball and place on prepared baking sheet.
- Gently press down to about 3/4 inch thick, and gently push down the rest of the chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges look a little bit dry. (see note)
- If desired, sprinkle the sea salt on top immediately after baked.
- Let cool and enjoy!
Notes
This cookie is very easy to over-bake because the dough is brown, so you can't really tell when it's done. Look for little cracks all around and slight dryness around the edges. You can cut this cookie any way you like, but I found it easiest to cut it like a pizza, but not with a pizza cutter. The original recipe is called Big Giant Double-Chocolate Fudge Cookie, but I like to call it the Death By Chocolate Giant Cookie.
